Neurodivergent Affirming approach

Hi, I'm Katy. I am a speech language pathologist (SLP) with 20 years of experience. I have worked in early intervention, private and public schools, private practices and hospital settings. Originally from Maine, I went to school in New Hampshire and Boston, before relocating to Maine to be closer to family and nature. In my free time, I enjoy reading, creating things and being outside.

What’s with the name?
I chose the name Sweetfern as a nostalgic nod to a native plant that grew in abundance at my great grandfather‘s camp in West Baldwin, Maine. I spent many hours there as a child learning from my grandparents and being surrounded by nature. While not actually a fern, sweetfern is a fragrant shrub that is able to grow and thrive in a variety of soil types and was used by indigenous people for its many healing properties. It starts blooming in May and continues all summer long, which just happens to correspond with my favorite time of year.
